Two workers were rescued alive this Friday from the tunnels of the Trishuli hydroelectric power plant in Nepal. The men had been trapped for nine days after a devastating flood hit the country. The rescue represents a moment of hope in a scenario marked by a large-scale tragedy.
Rescue teams continue operations to try to save the remaining workers who remain reported missing. In total, approximately 900 workers are missing in 12 hydroelectric power plants across Nepal.
According to Nepali authorities, approximately 500 of these workers may be trapped inside tunnels. Rescue operations have been hindered by conditions caused by the flood, which affected various infrastructure in the country.
