The leader of the PS parliamentary group, Eurico Brilhante Dias, confirmed this Friday that the party will not make viable the motion of censure presented by Chega against the Government. The motion will be discussed next Tuesday.
Brilhante Dias made this declaration on behalf of PS, making it clear that the socialists do not intend to support any motion of censure against the executive. This position was expected, given the party's voting history in the different legislative elections.
Chega's motion of censure comes as part of the opposition strategy of André Ventura's party, which has been using these procedural instruments to mark its political position in parliament. The party thus intends to demonstrate its opposition to the Government's policies.
With PS's confirmation, Chega's motion of censure should be rejected, since the far-right party does not have enough votes to approve it on its own. The PCP and BE, although critical of the Government, are also not expected to make viable this specific initiative by Chega.
