El Periódico Mediterráneo - General4 September 2026 at 10:53

Javier Ruiz specified the editorial line that La Séptima will follow, the new national DTT channel driven by José Miguel Contreras, which will begin its broadcasts on November 5. In an interview granted to the EFE Agency, the journalist defined the project as a progressive television, centered on live broadcasts and willing to cover news when it happens.

The channel positions itself as an alternative to existing media outlets, with Javier Ruiz explicitly defining the project as "the Spanish anti-Fox News". This statement clearly establishes the ideological and editorial orientation that will mark the programming grid of the new channel.

José Miguel Contreras, known for his career in the Spanish audiovisual sector, is responsible for driving this new television project that arrives on the national media landscape through digital terrestrial television. The launch is scheduled for November, when La Séptima will begin to compete with the channels already established in the Spanish market.

Santana Lopes criticizes requirements in Lagoa da Vela tourism project

The mayor of the Municipality of Figueira da Foz, Pedro Santana Lopes, considered the demands of public bodies in the Lagoa da Vela tourism project process, which has been dragging on for almost 30 years, inadmissible. The mayor criticized above all the CCDR Centro and APA, which require new studies and an Environmental Impact Assessment in parallel with the Detail Plan, when there was already a favorable environmental impact declaration from 2008. Santana Lopes compared the situation to the 1999 blockage by José Sócrates and warned that the demands represent a delaying maneuver. The municipality approved the deadline extension, with the president voting against, and according to councilor João Martins, the new framework should delay the work for at least 2028. The project includes villas, tourist developments and a golf course on a 100-hectare plot acquired in 1998.
