Businessman Víctor de Aldama, a person accused in the so-called "hydrocarbons case," requested the judge to be himself who sells the vehicles that were seized from him within the framework of this judicial process. Aldama argues that he can get better prices for the sale of the cars than those that would be obtained through official auctions.
The reason presented by the businessman for this request is related to the possibility of obtaining a greater amount of money to face any judicial responsibilities that may arise throughout the process. Aldama believes that the direct sale would allow him to maximize the value of the seized assets.
The judge will now have to decide whether to grant this authorization or not. If approved, Aldama would be responsible for managing the sale of his own seized assets, instead of waiting for them to be auctioned by the competent authority.
The sale of the vehicles through the route requested by Aldama would be carried out through the Oficina de Recuperación y Gestión de Activos (ORGA), an organization dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Justice that normally manages this type of seizures.
