Industry and Tourism Minister Jordi Hereu will meet this Friday with representatives of Airbus and the unions involved in the labor conflict affecting the company. The meeting is scheduled for 12:30 at the Ministry's headquarters, located on Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid.
The meeting comes after five weeks of indefinite strike and more than two months of disagreements between the company and workers. The Spanish Executive decided to intervene as a mediator to try to end a conflict that has been dragging on for several months.
The unions that called the strike will participate in the meeting: CGT, UGT and ÚTIL, which have been defending improvements in the working conditions of Airbus workers. The participation of these three unions is considered fundamental for any agreement that may be reached.
This ministerial intervention represents an attempt by the government to find a solution to a conflict that has affected Airbus's production and operations, one of the main companies in the European aerospace sector.
