Two people were rescued alive this Thursday in Nepal, after remaining nine days trapped in a tunnel of a hydroelectric plant located on the Trishuli river. Emergency teams finally managed to get the two men out of the site, putting an end to a prolonged period of confinement.

The rescue represents a moment of relief amid a broader emergency situation. Nepali authorities estimate that just over 100 workers remain trapped in this and other tunnels in the region, suggesting that the crisis has not yet ended.

The incident occurred in the context of a hydroelectric plant, which indicates that the workers were probably involved in construction or maintenance activities of energy infrastructure in the Asian country.
