Postal do Algarve4 September 2026 at 09:19

A 26-year-old man, wanted by Brazilian authorities on suspicion of attempted homicide, was detained this morning in Lisbon in an operation by the Judicial Police. The suspect was subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the Brazilian authorities, within the scope of a case related to a crime of attempted homicide, allegedly committed using a firearm.

The facts date back to August 2021 and occurred in a city in the Brazilian State of Espírito Santo. The investigations indicate that the now-detained individual fired several shots at the victim, with the intention of causing her death, with the motive for the crime directly related to a dispute involving drug trafficking. The homicide was not completed due to circumstances beyond the presumed perpetrator's control.

The detainee will be presented to the Lisbon Court of Appeal for the application of precautionary measures.
