Tom Jobim is the theme of two free exhibitions on display in Rio de Janeiro

Tom Jobim (1927-1994) will be the subject of two free exhibitions on display in Rio de Janeiro, with an eye on the composer's birth centenary, scheduled for January 2027. The traveling exhibition "Jobim-açu" is set up in a truck bed and explores the relationship between the artist and the Atlantic Forest, which served as inspiration for some of his works. The title references the song "Querelas do Brasil," by Aldir Blanc and Maurício Tapajós, in which the composer's surname is joined with the Tupi suffix açu, meaning "great."

The exhibition features song excerpts, photos, images, biographical records, and unpublished works by Tom Jobim. One photo shows the composer at the foot of a sumaúma tree at the Botanical Garden in Rio de Janeiro, in 1982. Open to the public daily from 10am to 5pm, the exhibition is on display at Praça Santos Dumont until Sunday, the 6th, and then moves to Orla Prefeito Luiz Paulo Conde, where it can be visited between September 16 and 20.

Admission is free at both locations. For more information about the maestro's work, the article indicates the Antônio Carlos Jobim Institute as an additional research source.
