The forest fires in Spain have already burned more than 295,720 hectares since the beginning of the year, representing 45% of all burned area in the European Union. The data was released this Friday by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO).
The Spanish territory recorded 43 large fires in the analyzed period, which highlights the severity of the fire situation in the country. The extent of the damage places Spain as the most affected country in the European Union in terms of forest area consumed by the flames.
