Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes sent to minister Edson Fachin a request for investigation against fellow minister André Mendonça. In the decision, Moraes accuses Mendonça of administrative impropriety crimes, abuse of authority, and crime of responsibility.
Moraes' reaction occurs after André Mendonça lifted the secrecy of a Federal Police report that contained messages exchanged between Moraes himself and banker Daniel Vorcaro. In the decision, Moraes states that Mendonça committed a series of conducts to favor certain political groups after lifting the secrecy of the report.
Within the fake news inquiry, Moraes accuses André Mendonça of usurping investigations from police authorities. The minister is also accused of irregularly conducting negotiations for Daniel Vorcaro's potential plea deal.
According to Moraes, there was targeting of certain subjects for investigation for political reasons. The inquiry is under seal, but the decision was made public.
