The United States Treasury Department issued, this Wednesday, $1 coins with Donald Trump's face. The new coins are already in circulation.
There is a federal law that prevents sitting presidents from appearing on US money, but that law was considered a minor detail and did not prevent the issuance of the coins.
The coins were minted to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US, celebrated this year. The issuance is part of an unprecedented campaign that the Republican President has been conducting to leave his personal mark on American institutions.
A roll of 25 one-dollar coins was issued in this first phase.
