Brazilian municipalities are adopting drones as a support tool in the fight against dengue. Monitoring the territory, identifying and eliminating breeding sites of Aedes aegypti and guiding the population are fundamental activities for the control of arboviruses, but maintaining this surveillance in a continuous and comprehensive manner represents a major challenge for responsible teams in cities with thousands of properties, extensive areas and different urban characteristics.
Programs that use drones, geotechnologies and data analysis are being implemented to support the work of prevention and control of arboviruses. From an aerial view of large areas, these equipment allow observing the territory from a new perspective, expanding the reach of monitoring.
With drone technology, the identification of possible breeding sites of the mosquito that transmits dengue becomes more efficient. The article highlights that this tool enables broader coverage of the municipal territory, assisting sanitation surveillance teams in actions to combat the disease.
