Brussels ruled out the immediate risk of disruption to gas supply in the European Union. The European Commission considers that, despite geopolitical tensions, current storage levels are sufficient to guarantee supply in the short term.
EU gas storage levels currently stand at 65.85%, a value considered comfortable by European authorities. However, there is a deadline set for December for countries to reach the mandatory 90% reserves.
Portugal stands out positively in this scenario, presenting reserve levels of 93.08%, thus exceeding the mandatory target set for all Member States. This performance places the country in a more comfortable position regarding possible disruptions to supply.
The situation reflects Europe's ongoing concern with energy security, especially after recent geopolitical conflicts that affected gas flows in the region.
