Education and community development lead companies' focus on social projects in Brazil

extra3 September 2026 at 23:10

Companies in Rio de Janeiro invested R$ 93 million in social projects in 2025, according to a survey by BISC/Comunitas. The state ranks second in the national ranking for the presence of companies with Corporate Social Investment (ISC), behind only São Paulo.

Among the target audiences of these initiatives, young people aged 18 to 29 and children and adolescents are tied in the lead, with 87% of participating BISC companies declaring action focused on these groups. The research shows that education and community development are the main areas of focus.

Surveys such as BISC/Comunitas, the Gife Census, and the ESG Integrity Yearbook provide nationwide data on corporate social investment, although it is not possible to specifically separate Rio de Janeiro numbers from these surveys. Nevertheless, the data help understand the overall landscape that also reflects business operations in the city.
