IL rejects Chega's motion but presses Montenegro

Observador3 September 2026 at 21:43

The Iniciativa Liberal (IL) party rejected a motion presented by Chega, but continues to pressure Prime Minister Luís Montenegro about the case involving Luís Neves. The IL president argues that Luís Neves should be dismissed from his position.

However, IL refuses to use this situation to create an additional political crisis in the country. The party chose not to align with Chega's motion, maintaining an independent position on the matter.

The debate on this issue is scheduled for Tuesday, when the future of Luís Neves and the political responsibilities associated with the case should be publicly discussed.
