Datafolha: Lula has 46%, and Bolsonaro's son appears with 44% in a potential second round

oglobo3 September 2026 at 23:06

The Datafolha poll released on Thursday shows President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) with 46% of voting intentions in a potential presidential election second round, while Senator Bolsonaro's son appears with 44%. The result indicates a technical tie between the two presidential candidates, since the difference is within the two percentage point margin of error. In the direct dispute between Lula and Bolsonaro's son, whites and nulls represent 9%, and 2% are undecided.

This is the first Datafolha poll after the revelation of new message exchanges between banker Daniel Vorcaro and Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The survey is also the first conducted after the interviews of the presidential candidates on TV Globo.

In a second round against Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), Lula scores 46%, a negative variation of one percentage point compared to the last Datafolha poll. The former governor of Goiás, in turn, has 41% of voting intentions, rising one point compared to the previous survey. As in the matchup with Bolsonaro, the variations fall within the margin of error.

Electoral Court of MG Challenges Eduardo Cunha's Candidacy for Federal Deputy

The Regional Electoral Court of Minas Gerais unanimously denied the candidacy registration of Eduardo Cunha (Republicanos) for federal deputy. In a trial lasting more than three hours, the magistrates followed the rapporteur's vote, accompanying two actions that pointed to the ineligibility of the former president of the Chamber. The Electoral Prosecutor's Office of Minas argued that the removal of Cunha's mandate in 2016 generated an eight-year ineligibility, which would only end in 2027, after the elections, as provided by the Clean Record Law.
