PCP/Açores today considered that farmers in the Region are facing "ever greater" difficulties. The situation is due to increased production costs, falling milk prices, and delays in the arrival of promised support payments.
The communist party accused both the Republic's Government and the Regional Government of practicing a policy of "inertia" regarding the problems of the Azorean agricultural sector. PCP/Açores strongly criticized the actions of these governments.
The party stated that there is "discrimination and abandonment" on the part of the Republic's Government, PSD, and CDS towards the farmers of the Azores. This situation has been worsening over time.
