The executive director of the National Health Service, Álvaro Almeida, acknowledges that Hospital Amadora-Sintra has "unacceptable" waiting times and admits there are no short-term solutions to resolve this situation. The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region faces major difficulties in managing hospital services.

According to Álvaro Almeida, there are three hospitals in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region that are a cause for concern, with Amadora-Sintra being one of the most critical. The constraints at these hospital units reflect the accumulated pressure on the health system in the Lisbon metropolitan area.

Regarding Setúbal Hospital, the problems at the obstetrics emergency department will continue for at least until October 1st. This situation further aggravates the response limitations in the region and affects pregnant women's access to specialized care.
