Uber launched a robotaxi service on the streets of London, in the United Kingdom, in partnership with Wayve, a company that develops technology dedicated to autonomous driving. This partnership now allows Uber customers in the English capital to have access to autonomous cars when they request a ride through the application.
Wayve's autonomous vehicles are available to users, but it is not possible to specifically choose this type of vehicle. Customers cannot select robotaxis, which are assigned automatically when available.
The expansion to London marks a significant step in Uber's robotaxi service expansion, which already operates in other cities. The collaboration with Wayve positions the company at the forefront of autonomous driving technology in the rideshare sector.
