Israeli radical minister proposes emptying Gaza of its Palestinian inhabitants

RTP Notícias3 September 2026 at 19:20

Israel's minister with the National Security portfolio, Itamar Ben-Gvir, presented this Thursday a 20-page brochure during the electoral campaign, in which he outlines plans to empty the Gaza Strip of its Palestinian population. Ben-Gvir, known for his radical positions, proposes that Palestinians be sent abroad as part of this strategy.

The disclosure of this proposal occurs amid the electoral campaign in Israel, which suggests that Ben-Gvir is seeking to appeal to the far-right electorate with extreme measures regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The minister argues that the transfer of the population would be the solution to the Gaza question.

Ben-Gvir is a controversial figure both in Israel and on the international scene. His positions have been frequently criticized by human rights organizations and condemned by the international community, which views such proposals as serious violations of international law and the rights of Palestinians.

The proposal comes at a time of great tension in the region, with the conflict in Gaza continuing and negotiations for a ceasefire on hold. Experts warn that this type of rhetoric may further worsen the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory.
