The State Government of Rio de Janeiro and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security signed, on Thursday, two Technical Cooperation Agreements (ACTs) to expand integration between state and federal forces in confronting organized crime.

The initiative targets different fronts, including the recovery of territories, the protection of strategic corridors, and the strengthening of the permanent presence of the State in areas under the influence of criminal organizations.

The partnership includes information sharing, territorial intelligence, operational support, and technology integration, as well as initiatives aimed at weakening the financial and asset structures used by organized crime.

The government highlights that public security is an essential service to the population and requires cooperation among all institutions to effectively confront organized crime.

Electoral Court of MG Challenges Eduardo Cunha's Candidacy for Federal Deputy

The Regional Electoral Court of Minas Gerais unanimously denied the candidacy registration of Eduardo Cunha (Republicanos) for federal deputy. In a trial lasting more than three hours, the magistrates followed the rapporteur's vote, accompanying two actions that pointed to the ineligibility of the former president of the Chamber. The Electoral Prosecutor's Office of Minas argued that the removal of Cunha's mandate in 2016 generated an eight-year ineligibility, which would only end in 2027, after the elections, as provided by the Clean Record Law.
