Floods in Nepal have caused over 1,200 dead, according to the official count. The natural catastrophe severely affects the South Asian country, causing one of the worst recent humanitarian tragedies in the region.
Landslides and extreme flooding swept across the entire Nepali territory. The waters flooded entire villages, destroying homes, infrastructure and agricultural lands.
Disappearances were recorded in both territories affected by the calamity. Many families remain displaced, seeking refuge in improvised temporary shelters.
Nepalese authorities continue rescue and assistance efforts for victims, while the international community expresses concern over the scale of human and material losses caused by this natural disaster.
