Hospital Amadora-Sintra again registers 10-hour wait time for urgent patients

TVI Notícias3 September 2026 at 22:48

Hospital Amadora-Sintra has once again registered 10-hour waiting times for urgent patients. This situation represents a significant overload for the emergency services of the hospital unit.

The main problem is related to the lack of healthcare professionals at the hospital. The shortage of doctors, nurses, and other health technicians has been compromising the institution's response capacity.

However, the recruitments that could help fill this gap are currently blocked by the Ministry of Finance. The blockade prevents the hospital from strengthening its staff with new professionals.
