Two women killed by bears while picking mushrooms in Siberia; bodies were found buried

oglobo3 September 2026 at 22:46

Two women, aged 67 and 73, were killed in bear attacks while picking mushrooms in the Krasnoyarsk region, in Siberia, Russia. The bodies of Galina Teterina, 73, and Zoya G., 67, were found buried about 5 meters apart, near the locality of Podtyosovo.

According to a hypothesis raised by emergency teams, Zoya was attacked first and buried by the bear. Hours later, Galina would have arrived at the same location and was also attacked. It has not yet been determined whether the two women were victims of the same animal.

A resident interviewed by the British newspaper The Sun raised the hypothesis that Galina may have found the location where Zoya was buried, and that the predator was nearby, attacking when Galina approached.
