The Municipality of Montalegre is carrying out a safety reinforcement intervention on the municipal road network, with the installation of 3,115 meters of new protective metal guardrails and the repair of 340 meters of existing structures. The works mainly focus on critical points, where the characteristics of the roads justify a reinforcement of protection conditions for motorists and other users.
The total investment amounts to 166,225 euros and includes interventions at various locations in the municipality, covering accesses and municipal roads in different parishes. Among the points covered are the accesses to Azevedo, Fafião, Paio Afonso, São Bento, Torgueda and Outeiro, as well as Municipal Road 513 at Alto de Covelães and EM 509-1 in Medeiros.
The intervention also extends to Vilar de Perdizes, Padornelos, Codeçoso, São Ane, Sirvozelo and Cabril, also covering the section between Cambedo and Ferral, near the dam, where the existing metal guardrails will be repaired. With this project, the municipality aims to improve protection in higher-risk areas and help reduce the consequences of potential run-off-road incidents.
The operation represents a commitment to prevention and improving circulation conditions, directly intervening in essential infrastructure for the mobility of residents and the connection between the different localities of the municipality.
