The official inauguration ceremony of the new section of the Eastern Variant of IP2 took place this morning, with the presence of the Vice-President of the Municipality of Évora, Jerónimo José, and the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Hugo Espírito Santo.
The new road infrastructure covers a stretch of approximately 13 kilometers in length, connecting the eastern area of the city of Évora to the IP2 road.
According to Jerónimo José, the opening of this variant represents a historic moment that marks the end of an old municipal claim, allowing the diversion of a significant part of the traffic that previously crossed through the city.
The Eastern Variant of Évora to IP2 should reduce the volume of traffic crossing the city by up to 40%, contributing to a significant improvement in mobility conditions and quality of life in the region.
