A mansion valued at R$ 220 million, considered the most expensive residential property in the country, began to be demolished in Jardim Pernambuco, in Leblon, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The property, built in English style with six suites on an 11,500 square meter lot, will be replaced by Estância Pernambuco, a mini-condominium with ten houses. Each lot will cost starting at R$ 19 million.
The demolition of the mansion will be carried out over the next three months. The information was anticipated by Ancelmo Gois's blog, from GLOBO. The property was built in 1986 by the Amaral family, former owners of the Disco supermarket chain.
Jardim Pernambuco is currently the most valued stretch of Leblon, which explains the high value of the land. The appreciation of the region is one of the factors that motivated the demolition of the historic mansion to make way for the new real estate development.
