Fortaleza will host on September 5th and 6th the 42K Terra da Luz Marathon - Fortaleza Coast to Coast, a competition organized by Nova Letra Eventos Criativos. The event will have the Porto Pier, in front of the Mucuripe Lighthouse, as its starting and finishing point, a monument that will turn 180 years old in 2026.
The schedule starts on Saturday with the 7 km race, while on Sunday the 21 km and 42 km races will be held. A novelty this year is the two-day challenge, which allows the athlete to complete the 7 km on Saturday and, on Sunday, choose between the half marathon or the full marathon, totaling routes of 28 km or 49 km at the end of the weekend.
According to Fernando Elpídio, director of Nova Letra Eventos Criativos, the "Fortaleza Coast to Coast" concept was born from the intention to integrate the city with the runners' experience, exploring different landscapes and aspects of the capital of Ceará. He highlighted that Fortaleza is the street running capital of the Northeast and now has a marathon to call its own.
