Real Madrid did not register Ferland Mendy on the list of eligible players for the UEFA Champions League. The French defender, who cost the Blancos around €50 million, was left out of the European competition.
The decision was made by manager José Mourinho, who chose not to include the 29-year-old player on the list of available athletes for the main phase of the Champions League.
Ferland Mendy joined Real Madrid in 2019 from Olympique de Lyon, having been one of the club's most expensive signings that season. Since then, the player has been a regular option at left-back for the Blancos.
With this exclusion, Mourinho demonstrates that he does not consider Mendy a priority for the European competition, making room for other players in the left-back position in the squad submitted for the Champions.
