Club Azenhas Vivas decided to cancel the Tua Lazer, a canoeing, kayaking and Stand Up Paddle activity that was planned for Praia do Açude, near the Bridge of Vilarinho das Azenhas. The decision was made due to the state of the water observed at the location, which the club considered unsuitable for carrying out activities that would involve direct contact of participants with the river.
The club published images where extensive stains and accumulations of green matter are visible on the surface and along the banks of the Tua. Given these conditions, the organization considered that it would not be appropriate to allow participants to enter the water.
Club Azenhas Vivas states that it cannot pretend nothing is happening and defends the need to obtain answers about what is occurring in the river. The association expresses its intention to continue drawing attention to this issue and considers that the preservation of the natural space must be present in decisions regarding the use of the Tua river.
