68% of child bicycle seats fail safety tests

A European testing campaign evaluated 25 bicycle seats for transporting children and discovered that 68% of the products failed the safety tests. The tests were conducted to help consumers make more informed choices when purchasing these equipment.

The main problems identified were related to the quality of the straps and restraint systems of the seats. Additionally, failures were detected in the resistance and durability of the tested products.

Almost half of the products that did not meet the safety requirements presented failures related to the systems for attaching to the bicycles. These deficiencies can represent significant risks for the safety of children during transport.
