Vaccination against syncytial virus starts on the 16th

The Directorate-General for Health announced that the seasonal pediatric vaccination campaign against respiratory syncytial virus will begin on the 16th. This is a prevention measure targeted at the child population.

The vaccination campaign runs until March 31, 2027, covering the entire seasonal period defined for virus circulation. The goal is to protect babies during the months of highest infection risk.

According to the Directorate-General for Health, the expectation is that all babies will be eligible to receive the vaccination. This represents an expanded coverage of the pediatric population vulnerable to this respiratory virus.

Respiratory syncytial virus is one of the main causes of respiratory infections in children, particularly in babies, and can cause serious complications such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia.
