The Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Jorge Maranha, states that the new Eastern Évora Variant brings Alentejo closer and represents a significant advance for the region. The city of Évora is preparing for an urban transformation with this new road, integrated into the IP2, which consists of a 13-kilometer route.

The work promises to go far beyond simply diverting traffic, returning urban space to citizens and creating new dynamics of living in the historic center of the city. The project also includes an urban requalification component that aims to improve the quality of life in the central area.

The Eastern Évora Variant is considered a fundamental step to achieve the "zero vision" goal for road safety. The objective is to significantly reduce accidents on the region's roads, contributing to safer traffic.
