BE/Açores again defended that the Regional Government of the Azores has budgetary margin to reduce the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products, an instrument that would allow fuel prices in the region to be lowered. The party recalls that the regional executive has powers in this matter and that there are precedents of previous reductions.
The left-wing party also criticized the Regional Executive for continuing to "hide details" about fuel price formation in the Azores. This position comes following a new increase in fuel prices in the region, which once again worsened the cost of living for the Azorean population.
BE/Açores has been pressuring the regional government to take concrete fiscal relief measures, arguing that the reduction of ISP would be a direct way to support families and businesses facing the price surge. The issue assumes particular relevance in an island territory, where fuels have a significant impact on the local economy and transportation.
