A memorial was inaugurated in honour of the 16 fatalities of the Elevador da Glória accident, in Lisbon, as one year passed since the tragedy. The elevator, which connected Baixa to Bairro Alto, suffered a serious accident that resulted in the death of 16 people.
The families of the victims say they are still waiting for answers about the causes of the accident and who was responsible. The families believe they have still not received the explanations they deserve about what happened that day.
The Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, guaranteed that the municipality "was always present" throughout the entire process. Carlos Moedas made this statement during the ceremony for the inauguration of the memorial in honour of the victims.
