Montenegro will face the third motion of censure. See how many have been presented in democracy

Montenegro will face the third motion of censure against his Government. This will be presented by PS and has voting scheduled for Thursday. The Prime Minister has already reacted, considering the motion "unacceptable" at a moment of "public calamity".

To date, only one motion of censure managed to topple a Government in Portugal. This was presented in 1979 against the Government of Mota Pinto, which fell with 153 votes in favor and 136 against. Since then, no motion has been successful.

The number of motions has already surpassed all previous legislatures of the AD. In the previous motion, presented by PSD, BE and IL, Montenegro was saved by the votes of Chega. The motion was rejected with 90 votes against, 88 in favor and 12 abstentions.

The PS motion arises in a context of criticism of the Executive's response to the tragedy of the fires of Pedrógão Grande and the situation in the forest sector. The party considers that the Prime Minister "does not have political conditions" to continue in office.
