The Social Security Institute (ISS) changed the Portal and mobile application to allow users to more quickly identify deadlines associated with outstanding amounts. Until now, anyone with several payments to make needed to individually consult each document to check the respective deadline. With the novelty, the payment date now appears directly on the screen where the amounts to be paid are displayed.
The change applies to payments that citizens and companies must make to Social Security, including contributions and other amounts owed. By displaying on a single screen the amount and corresponding deadline for each obligation, Social Security aims to reduce late payments, which can result in late fees or fines. For those with several outstanding amounts, the change also makes it easier to identify priorities.
The ISS states that the new feature can be useful for both companies, facilitating treasury management, and for individuals, who can better organize their budget and distribute expenses throughout the month. In the case of self-employed workers, contributions are normally paid between the 10th and 20th of the following month, while employers must settle their contributions between the 1st and 25th of the month following the one they refer to.
The novelty was introduced in both the Portal and the Social Security App, but does not change existing legal deadlines or amounts to be paid. Social Security expects that this greater visibility will help reduce forgetfulness and avoid additional expenses caused by payment delays.
