The announcement was made by Miriam Garlo, who made history by becoming the first deaf actress to win a Goya Award.

The institution is directed by Fernando Méndez-Leite and confirmed that the final decision on which of these three films will represent Spain will be announced on September 16. The selected film will replace "Sirât" by Oliver Laxe, which represented Spain in the previous edition of the Oscars.
