The mansion pointed out as the most expensive in the country began being demolished this Thursday in Jardim Pernambuco, a neighborhood in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro. The property had been advertised for R$ 220 million and will be completely removed over the next three months. Part of the house had already been dismantled previously, with items such as window frames being auctioned off.
On the 11,500-square-meter plot of land, the Estância Pernambuco will be built, an ultra-high-end mini-condominium consisting of ten houses. Each lot will cost starting at R$ 19 million. The new development will be carried out by construction company Mozak, with custom-built homes.
The architectural projects for the new houses bear the signature of architect Thiago Bernardes, responsible for the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR). Bernardes was chosen to design the layout of the customized residences that will be built on the site.
