An imposing medieval construction has been drawing the attention of residents and passersby on Estrada do Pontal, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The Pontal Castle, which already features towers and walls flanking a large gate, began to be built two years ago on a 6,011 square meter plot, with completion scheduled for July 2027.
The leisure complex project includes halls for large events, theme park, outdoor attractions, five suites, restaurant, bistro and party spaces. Altogether, there will be three thousand square meters of built area. The construction was also featured in the column by Leo Aversa, previously published by the newspaper.
The castle, which promises to be a landmark in the local landscape, is being built in a region that has been growing in popularity among residents of Rio. The work has generated curiosity among those passing by Estrada do Pontal, given its differentiated architecture and medieval inspiration.
