Mercadona opened a new store on the south bank of the Tagus on August 20. The commercial space came to reinforce the presence of the Spanish chain in the Setúbal district, at a time when the company continues to expand its store network in Portugal.
With the opening of this new store, Mercadona created 74 jobs, all with permanent contracts. These permanent positions represent a significant contribution to the local economy, offering job stability to workers in the region.
The south bank of the Tagus has been a strategic growth area for several supermarket chains, given the population increase seen in recent years in the municipalities that comprise it. Mercadona's arrival in this area intensifies competition with other brands already established in the region.
