The new revelations about the involvement of Supreme Federal Court ministers with banker Daniel Vorcaro generated repercussion among Presidential candidates. Minister André Mendonça confirmed that he met with the former banker from Master in March of last year. The information was disclosed by the ICL Notícias website, which revealed the meeting. Previously, the secrecy of conversations between Vorcaro and another minister, Alexandre de Moraes, had already been lifted.
Mendonça explained that the subject discussed at the meeting was a Supreme Court ruling that addressed precatório credits of interest to the bank. The minister clarified that he recorded the appointment in his official schedule, characterizing it as a professional meeting related to jurisdictional matters.
The PL candidate for President, Flávio Bolsonaro, downplayed the revelation during a campaign event in Porto Alegre. For him, the disclosure of the meeting is nothing more than a "smoke screen" against Minister André Mendonça. Bolsonaro defended the minister's conduct by stating that at the time of the meeting, Mendonça was not even the rapporteur of the case involving the precatórios.
The candidate argued that the meeting dealt with a specific subject, officially recorded, being something totally professional. He contrasted this situation with what, according to him, was done by Alexandre de Moraes, although the sentence was left incomplete in the article. The comparison highlights the attempt to differentiate the conduct of the two STF ministers.
