Alcolumbre reacts to opposition pressure for impeachment and cites 'Dark Horse'

cbn3 September 2026 at 02:11

Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) reacted on Wednesday to the opposition's pressure for impeachment requests against Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court. Since the revelations about dialogues between the magistrate and former banker Daniel Vorcaro, opposition senators have been taking turns at the podium to demand progress on one of the more than one hundred petitions filed.

Alcolumbre stated he would return to the agenda and criticized the aggression he has received. He highlighted that everyone forgot that 130 million reais were requested from the same person, Vorcaro, for film production.

Alcolumbre's veiled reference comes a day after Piauí magazine published a report debunking the presidential candidate's claims regarding the money requests to Vorcaro. The attack falls on Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), an ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

For these eclipses there are no glasses

This article is an opinion piece published in a Madeiran media outlet that uses the August solar eclipse phenomenon to make a political critique of the Regional Government of Madeira. The author compares scientific eclipses, which require special glasses to be observed, with the regional government's political "eclipses," where old problems are hidden behind new announcements and propaganda. The text highlights that the "health eclipse" is the most serious, as it affects real people and not just statistics, denouncing the lack of transparency and concealment of governmental responsibilities.

Ceuta: border on alert

Ceuta, the Spanish enclave on the North African coast, remains on alert following the invasion of June 30, 2026, an episode that represents the culmination of decades of tension on the Spanish-Moroccan border. The city, located at the western entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar and under Spanish sovereignty since the 17th century, constitutes, together with Melilla, the only land border of the European Union in Africa, which gives it a geopolitical weight greater than its territorial size, transforming any threat to its integrity into a matter of European relevance. For Spain, Ceuta is a fully integrated territory within its sovereignty, while Rabat has been increasing pressure on these Spanish cities, taking advantage of their status as the only land entry point of the EU on the African continent to exert diplomatic pressure. The recent invasion highlighted the vulnerability of this border and reignited the debate on the need to strengthen European security on its outer edges.
