Alexandra Leitão, PS councilor on the Lisbon City Council, intends to run for re-election to the Lisbon municipality in 2029. However, the socialist finds herself isolated within the party, according to the report.

The local PS structures in Lisbon have as their favorite for the candidacy to the city council the name of Pedro Siza Vieira, former minister of the Economy and former Minister of the Economy and Digital Affairs.

This situation places Alexandra Leitão in a delicate position within the party, since she does not have the support of the local structures for her intention to lead the PS list for the Lisbon City Council in the next local elections.

The report comes at a time when strategies and names are beginning to be defined for the 2029 local elections, with Pedro Siza Vieira emerging as the preferred bet of the local party structure to compete for the presidency of the Lisbon City Council.
