TSE approves registrations of Lula, Flávio Bolsonaro, Zema and three more presidential candidates

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) approved on Wednesday the registrations of six presidential candidates for the 2026 elections. The decisions were made unanimously in an extraordinary virtual session of the court, with the requests reported by Justice André Mendonça and Justice Estela Aranha.

Among the approved candidates are President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and former Minas Gerais governor Romeu Zema (Novo). Also validated were Samara Martins (UP), Hertz Dias (PSTU) and Edmilson Costa (PCB).

The approved tickets were: Lula and Geraldo Alckmin (PSB);Flávio Bolsonaro and Alfredo Gaspar (PL); Samara Martins and Raquel Brício (UP); Romeu Zema and Eduardo Girão (Novo); Hertz Dias and Vanessa Portugal (PSTU); and Edmilson Costa and Cleusa Santos (PCB).

With the decisions, the TSE authorized the six tickets to officially compete in the October elections. The article was interrupted during the explanation of the reasons that led the justices to approve the candidacy requests.
