The president of the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Senate, Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), informed that the PEC on Public Security will not have its processing concluded in the CCJ before the first round of elections. According to him, the vote will only be finalized when Congress returns to regular sessions after the electoral period. This week is the last week of voting before the first round of elections, as agreed among the parliamentarians.
The CCJ of the Senate approved earlier on Wednesday the base text of the PEC, which is a flag of the Lula government (PT) for the security area. However, there are still highlighted sections to be analyzed, which prevents the proposal from advancing immediately to the Senate Floor.
The rapporteur of the proposal, senator Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE), met a demand from the sports sector and made an adjustment to the text to prevent resources destined for the area from being emptied by the PEC. The full text of the article was cut, but the matter deals with the distribution of competencies among the Union, states, and municipalities within the scope of public security.
