A study by the European network EU Kids Online reveals that Portuguese youth intensively use generative Artificial Intelligence tools for completing schoolwork, showing significant adoption of this technology in the educational context. Simultaneously, the research shows that these same young people have high exposure to hostile messages and hate speech on social networks. The study warns of the risks associated with this reality, highlighting the negative impact on learning and the development of young people's critical thinking. The article argues that it is urgent to promote debate on digital education and children's rights, in order to protect the youngest in an increasingly digitized environment.
