The Brazilian government held a conciliation hearing with Discord on Wednesday afternoon, a digital platform that is the subject of a lawsuit filed by the Union in court seeking payment of a R$ 500 million fine. The company committed to presenting improvements requested by the federal executive within 10 business days.

Participating in the hearing were Discord's attorneys, representatives from the Attorney General's Office, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), delegates from the Federal Police (PF), and the National Secretary of Digital Rights at the Ministry of Justice, Victor Oliveira Fernandes.

The Union and Discord reached a partial agreement. A 10 business-day deadline was granted for the company to present specific proposals on four crucial points from the initial petition. Additionally, an overall deadline of 30 business days was established for evaluation and attempt at a final agreement between the parties.

Among the points under discussion are measures to combat sextortion, including the creation of a protocol to report evidence of this crime to authorities, in addition to other actions to protect minors on the platform.
