Environmental education action brings together children and teenagers in Rio's West Zone

extra2 September 2026 at 23:17

An environmental education action will bring together children and teenagers at Macumba Beach, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The event is scheduled for next Friday and will mobilize thirty students from the Surf Learning and Development Center (Cades), an institution that works on youth development through sport and education.

The participants will have the opportunity to observe the fauna and flora of the coastal region, as well as investigate the functions performed by the restinga and its importance for environmental balance and protection of the area. The activities will be held at Longboard Paradise, in the dunes adopted by the project at Macumba Beach.

The action is part of the Restinga Project, created by Instituto-E in 2009 and recognized by the National Protected Areas Program. The project aims to promote environmental awareness and preservation of coastal ecosystems among local communities.

Our body synchronizes with other people in five different ways

Scientific investigations identify five distinct forms of body synchronization between people, challenging the popular idea that menstrual cycles synchronize in women who live together — the so-called "McClintock effect," which lacks convincing evidence. However, the human body coordinates with that of other people through mechanisms such as synchronization, when physiological or behavioral processes present coordinated temporal patterns, and co-regulation, when one individual's emotional or physiological state influences that of another.

Some wait nearly three years for a diagnosis after the first signs in the lungs

Many patients with lung diseases face significant delays in diagnosis, waiting nearly three years after the onset of the first symptoms, which include shortness of breath, persistent cough, fatigue, and gradual weight loss. The late detection of these conditions can negatively impact the prognosis and quality of life of patients, highlighting the importance of greater attention to initial signs and faster access to specialized diagnostic tests.
