President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received Minister Gilmar Mendes, from the Supreme Federal Court, at the Palace on Tuesday afternoon to address the institutional crisis involving Ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça. The meeting did not appear on the Presidency's official schedule.
The crisis emerged after revelations that Alexandre de Moraes maintained frequent contact with banker Daniel Vorcaro, from Banco Master. According to reports from interlocutors, Lula expressed concern about damage to the institutional image of the Supreme Court.
The president stated that it is necessary to avoid wear on the court. The Presidency's Social Communication Secretariat was contacted but did not comment on the meeting.
